Useful Information
Attending Your class
Arriving for your class
We have different doors for use depending on what class you are doing, but for all classes when you arrive gymnasts and parents should wait outside the gym at the specified door until a coach comes to bring you into the gym. Parents should remain outside and once gymnasts have entered, should make their way to the spectator area located at the middle of the gym by the Coffee Cart. Parents should not access the spectator area by walking through the gym. It is not a requirement to stay to watch unless your child is in a Preschool class. The diagram below shows which door to use for our different classes:
At the end of class, parents should proceed back out of the gym and will collect their child from the specified exit doors. Coaches will help gymnasts with socks & shoes.
PLEASE NOTE GYMNASTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE GYM WITHOUT A PARENT COLLECTING THEM IN PERSON FROM THEIR EXIT DOOR.
Warm up
All classes start with a warmup & stretch to prepare them for the physical tasks they will be doing in their class. Warmups may be slightly different depending on the type of class they are in.
Class Activity
Preschool & GymTots – Preschool gymnasts learn fundamental movement skills like balance & co-ordination in a playful fun environment. Preschool gymnasts get the chance to explore & practice in the gym using a variety of themes.
General Gymnastics – Gymnasts will work on floor, vault, beam and bars while developing a wide range of movement and social skills. Gymnasts will have the opportunity to take part in the British Gymnastics Performance Award Scheme.
Tumbling – Tumblers progressively learn fundamental skills like rolls, cartwheels and key shapes before moving onto move advanced skills like flips & somersaults, combining learned skills together into tumbling passes.
Trampoline – Trampolining takes you about as close to flying as you can go, without the need for an engine. Trampolinists progressively learn basic skills before moving on to more advanced somersaults & twisting skills, combining moves together to form routines.
Dismissal
Coaches will help gymnasts with shoes/belongings and will take them to their exit door to be collected by their parent/guardian. Gymnasts will not be allowed to leave the building without a parent/guardian being present
Essential Info for Class
Clothing
All participants should wear comfortable clothing that isn’t too baggy e.g. shorts/leggings and a t-shirt. If your child has a leotard, they are more than welcome to wear it, but it is not compulsory. Clothing with zips cannot be worn.
For trampoline classes children MUST have socks. If trampolinists don’t have socks they won’t be able to take part in class.
Gymnasts can leave their personal belongings in one of the cubbies in their area
Hair & Jewellery
Long hair should be tied up before class. All jewellery & watches must be removed with the exception of stud earrings.
For trampoline classes all jewellery must be removed. Earrings that cannot be removed must be covered with plasters/tape before coming to class.
Water
We have water coolers for use throughout the gym and water breaks will be given throughout the classes. If possible please send a water bottle to class along with your child.
Lateness
We understand that sometimes running late is inevitable. However, all our sessions begin with a physical warmup – this must be done prior to participating in the session. If you are more than 15 minutes late you will miss the warmup and may not be able to join the class.
Spectators
Parents are welcome to watch classes but must use the allocated seating area. Standing in the gym area is not allowed particularly in the General Gymnastics belongings area. Siblings and non-participating children must remain in the spectator area at all times. Nonparticipating children are not permitted to use any equipment at anytime during sessions.
Car Parking
Parking is only permitted in allocated spaces at the front and rear of the building. There should be no parking at the side of the building or in the crosshatch boxes at the main and trampoline/acro entrance doors. The car park is very busy so please exercise caution at all times.
Fees & Class Admin
Membership Fees
All members of Flight Gymnastics Academy have to pay an annual Club Membership Fee of £20. This is charged at the start of September each year or at the point of registration during the year. Club Membership Fees contribute towards servicing, maintenance and development costs we incur throughout the year.
All gymnasts must also have British Gymnastics Membership. This must be in place by your 3rd class at Flight. You can take out BG Membership at www.british-gymnastics.org and select Membership from the Menu Bar. Failure to register with British Gymnastics will result in your child not being able to participate in classes at Flight, as they will not be insured.
Class Fees
Class fees are charged monthly via card payment using the details you entered at the point of registration. Payments are administered by Class For Kids and are automatically processed on the 1st of each month. If there are any issues with processing your payment, the system will automatically retry to take payment for a further three occasions. If problems persist, we will get in touch with you.
Discounts
If you have more than two children attending classes or have more than 2 class bookings at Flight we offer a 10% discount on the 3rd child/lowest monthly class fee. Please get in touch with admin@flightgymnastics.co.uk if this applies to you or you have any further queries.
Adding a Class
If you would like to add additional classes, e.g. multiple classes in the same disciplines or adding another discipline, please get in touch with admin@flightgymnastics.co.uk. You will not be able to add additional classes yourself through the Class For Kids system. Likewise, to remove a class, please get in touch.
Leaving Flight
If you decide that classes at Flight are no longer suitable for you, then please get in touch with admin@flightgymnastics.co.uk who will assist with removing you from your class and cancelling future payments. This is the only way to cancel your membership/class with Flight.
Refunds
Unfortunately, refunds cannot be issued if you have not let us know you stopped attending classes. To avoid being charged, please ensure you let us know you have stopped classes before the 1st of the month.
Refunds will not be issued for exceptional circumstances such as weather, e.g., temperatures being too high or too low in the gym. Further, any exceptional bank holidays that may result in the gym being closed will not result in a refund for the missed class.
If we have cancelled a class ourselves due to staff issues e.g., staff illness or not being able to get an available coach to cover the class we will either offer a refund for this class or a make-up class at an alternative time.
Attendance
If you know you will be missing from class for an extended period of time due to sickness/injury, please let us know. If you miss three sessions in a row, we will get in touch with you to see if you will be returning to class. If you miss more than three sessions and have outstanding payments, you will automatically be removed from your class and our system.
